Pandemics are hard. We still want you to have a nice day.
In March 2020 the world shut down, and gathering together for Have A Nice Day Project was placed on hold. And it was difficult because this project brings so many good people together. So we got the idea that maybe the project could be done at home, as a way to bond with families, roommates, partners, your cat, etc. We sanitized the markers and put together activity kits. Our first couple attempts at this had our volunteers driving to different homes who signed up to participate, dropping the sleeves in mailboxes and on front porches. But, Baltimore ended up being a bigger city than we realized, and the drop-offs and pick-ups were wiping out full weekends. So, we partnered with Volunteering Untapped, and they took care of creating drop-off and pick-up locations. This way, participants were responsible for getting and returning their own sleeves.
It’s been hard to be apart for so long, Baltimore, but your messages still made it to the cafés that were offering limited hours and pick-up only for their patrons. So your messages still made it into the hands of Baltimore city residents and friends. And this was at a time when we needed those messages the most. So thank you. And we’ll see you again in person soon.
